Union Minister of State for Railways Veeranna Somanna has said that Margao, Sanvordem and Vasco-da-Gama railway stations have been identified for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Highlighting the progress made in railway infrastructure development in Goa, he noted that during the period 2014–2026, 24 km of railway line has been constructed, 164 km of railway electrification has been completed, and 12 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) have been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 150 crore.
He further stated that 02 pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains are currently operating from Goa State. Additionally, 03 ROBs have been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore.
Further he informed that Margao, Sanvordem and Vasco-da-Gama railway stations have been identified for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. In this regard, the master plan for the redevelopment of Madgaon Railway Station is presently under preparation. The redevelopment initiative aims to enhance station infrastructure and passenger amenities, providing a modern and improved travel experience for passengers.
