Officials of GD Environmental Private Limited, Pune, had visited the Margao Municipality a few days ago to hold a power-point presentation for the benefit of the Municipal councillors and civic officials, where the company representatives explained the salient features of the proposed 10-tonne capacity gasification waste processing plant at Sonsodo in detail.
With the councillors and officials evincing keen interest in the proposal, it was decided to inspect and study the project implemented in Pune, and accordingly, this visit was carried out on Saturday.
Municipal Engineer Deepak Desai informed that the project will cost the exchequer around Rs 7.50 crore including GST. “While processing one tonne of waste, around five per cent powder is produced from which pavers are made,” he added.
