Peace was shattered late Sunday night at Fatorda when a wholesale liquor vendor was stabbed with knives by a six-member gang, who all came on motorcycles with their faces covered with masks.
The victim Freddy Fernandes was rushed to the Hospicio hospital bleeding with injuries on his hand and back.
The incident occurred at around 11.30 pm on Sunday when the victim was just downed the shutters of his wholesale liquor outlet when the six assailants descended outside his shop. One of the assailant, who was armed with a knife, attacked him on his face, but the knife landed on the hand. He has also sustained knife injuries on other parts of his body.
Fortunately, the victim managed to rush to the adjoining shops which were open around that time. Freddy told the media at Hospicio that the six assailants came on motorcycles and were all armed with knives. “I had just closed my shop and was with my two friends, when the six came at the spot. One of them charged towards and told my friends to stay out, before stabbing me,” he said.
Freddy, who had taken the wholesale liquor shop on lease just a month ago, said the assailant also snatched away his chain during the incident. The Fatorda police is investigating.
