Masked men loot house; decamp with Rs 10L booty

OLD GOA: Seven masked robbers looted a house at Corlim and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh in a stolen car, after confining the inmates of the house at knife point.

According to Old Goa Police, Keshavnath Naik of Ravalnath Nagar, Corlim, complained that seven masked persons, armed with knife and wooden stick, entered his house between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm on March 7 by breaking open the rear door.

The complainant further stated that the accused confined his family members at knife point after tying their hands, legs and mouth.

The police said the robbers stole cash of Rs 2 lakh and gold ornaments worth about Rs 7.98 lakh.

The robbers also damaged the CCTV cameras and thereafter decamped with the complainant's car (GA-07-E-9197), which was parked outside his house.

Old Goa Police have registered an offence under Sections 342, 395, 427 IPC.

The police suspects that the accused are in the age group of 30 to 50 years, and they speak Hindi and Konkani languages.

While some of the accused were medium built, others were strong in physique and dark in complexion. One person was seen with the tattoo of Laxmi on the right hand forearm.

In a message to heads of various police stations in the State and neighbouring states, Old Goa police has requested their counterparts to keep a watch on the accused and the stolen red-colour Polo car.
