Matiechem Fest to feature floats for the first time

The third edition of the Matiechem Fest will be celebrated at Pilerne on October 2 from 10 am to 4 pm.

And for the first time, the festival will feature floats as part of the street parade.

Addressing reporters in Panaji on Friday, Fr Derrick informed that six floats will be part of the parade which includes six groups who will highlight various aspects like salt pans, springs, water bodies, fields and the hills.

Apart from that, there will be a Passoi which will focus on St John the Baptist, St Francis of Assisi and Mahatma Gandhi.

Seby Fernandes of Mira Mira fame will also feature at the fest as also the Derepent band consisting of local musicians.

Further, there will be Bolcavancheo Gozali featuring Swapnesh Sherlekar.

The Jharkhand group residing in the village will also present a cultural dance.

In the afternoon, there will be Goan lunch with famous Pilerne Chef Peter Fernandes preparing traditional Goan dishes. For the evening tea, there will be chai with kankonn.

Host of the festival Fr Derrick has appealed all Goans to participate in the festival.
