Matruchaya, a home for orphans, homeless and destitute children, has decided to seek assistance from public and corporate houses to construct a ‘Baalika Kalyan Ashram’ in Talaulim-Ponda, estimated at Rs 6 crore.
President of Matruchaya and industrialist Shrinivas Dempo addressed news conference in Matruchaya-Kavale on Wednesday and informed about the Matruchaya Karyvistar Sampark Abhiyan to be undertaken from December 1 to 15.
Adv. Santosh Ramnathkar, Madhukar Diskshit, Anup Keni and Nima Kamat were present on the occasion.
Dempo said they have felt that members of Matruchaya should visit the people and make them aware of programmes being carried out by them for these underprivileged children.
“All these years, the Matruchaya has played a vital role to give a better life to these destitute and orphan children. We all need to support such programmes. Hence, we will also go to corporate houses along with public to seek their support,” Dempo said.
He said that this project will create facilities for 75-100 girls. “We also expect the government to help us in this project,” he said.
Matruchaya was established in 1976 and in the last 4 decades, has undertaken varied social activities for the children.
