Mauvin sets the tone for garba night

Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has stated that while garba and dandiya dances have originated in Gujarat, they have gained popularity in Goa and across the world.
He was addressing media persons after participating in the garba and grooving to the beats of dandiya along with other revellers at the 10th All Goa Dandia Garba Dance Competition, organized by Nivedam Social Cultural and Sports club at Vaddem Nagar Govt High School Ground, Vasco. Several hundreds of revelers took part in the event.
Others present at the function included Dabolim BJP Mahila Morcha President Anita Thorat, BJP South Goa Secretary Santosh Kerkar, Sainath Amonkar, Govind Sakhalkar and Digambar Amonkar.
Appreciating the efforts of the Nivedam Social Cultural and Sports club, Mauvin said: "This is the 11th year that Nivedam is organising the event. It is very easy to start something but very difficult to continue for such a long time and that too with growing popularity every year."
