Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho will resign as Dabolim MLA and Congress member on December 16, before joining the BJP in the evening and will organise the BJP Vijay Sankalp Melava near Dabolim Railway station on December 19.
When contacted, Mauvin Godinho told The Goan that he would resign simultaneously as MLA and Congress member on Friday.
Earlier speaking on the sidelines of a function organised to lay a water pipeline at Vaddem-Vasco on Wednesday evening, Godinho said he would organise the BJP Vijay Sankalp Melava near Dabolim Railway station on December 19.
“I expect at least 10,000 people to attend BJP Vijay Sankalp Melava,” said Godinho.
“About 5,000 people attend my normal functions and with the help of BJP workers, I expect the crowd to go beyond the mark of 10,000,” he added.
Godinho said top BJP leaders from the State will attend the Melava, including Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza and State BJP president Vinay Tendulkar.
He added that BJP would win at least 26 seats in the forthcoming assembly elections due to the developmental works carried out by the BJP government during the last four-and-half years.
Speaking on developmental works, Godinho said once the 150 diameter water pipeline is commissioned, then the residents of Vaddem near Pai Nursing Home would get continuous water.
“I am also going to beautify the Vaddem beach by erecting benches and illuminating it, so that the residents can pass their time in the evening,” said Godinho.
