Accusing Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Deepak Naik and Chief Officer Deepali Naik of giving step-motherly treatment to him and his ward, City councillor Krishna Daji Salkar has called for the removal of the chief officer from MMC.
“Despite taking permission to put up banners, the council directed the staff to remove it,” Salkar said while addressing the media on Wednesday.
“I have withdrawn my support to the council, as my work is being scuttled. The notice to submit a list of developmental works to be carried out in my ward was given to me on Wednesday and the last date is Thursday,” added Salkar.
“As I am contesting the next assembly election, my banners erected in the city and other wards are being removed and all my developmental works are being hampered by Deepali and Deepak,” alleged Salkar.
“If Deepali doesn't stop biased attitude, then I will write to the Election Commission and request them to either suspend or transfer her,” warned Salkar.
Salkar said he was not against the party and was garnering support of BJP workers and his supporters to claim for the BJP ticket from Vasco constituency.
When asked whether any other political party officer met him, Salkar said MGP and BBSM approached him.
“I will take a decision at an appropriate time on whether to contest the next assembly election from any of the party tickets,” he said.
Councillor Rochana Borkar, who was present with Salkar, said a local politician was interfering in the day-to-day functioning of the council, due to which developmental works of her ward are also hampered.
