Two more policemen are suspected to be involved in the Rs 10.2 lakh robbery case, as Calangute police on Monday raided the house of arrested activist Deepak Gadekar and seized a car and one two-wheeler from his residence at Canca.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi and PSI Mangesh Volvoikar along with a police team raided the house of Gadekar and seized a car (GA-03P-5723), which was purchased for Rs 2.4 lakh and a two-wheeler (GA-03-AE-6060), which was bought for Rs 80,000.
The two vehicles were allegedly purchased from the money stolen from a Mangalore businessman.
Police also obtained clues of the involvement of two more policemen in the case and are probing their links in this direction.
Two policemen, Calangute Police Head Constable Keshav Naik, and police constable, Mahendra Mandrekar, along with Gadekar were earlier arrested on Saturday after they were accused of robbing a businessman from Mangalore to the tune of Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, Calangute police also seized Rs 24,000 in cash and a golden chain worth Rs 50,000 from arrested police constable Keshav Naik and Rs 1 lakh cash from arrested police constable Mahendra Mandrekar.
Till now, police has recovered the amount of Rs 5.01 lakh from the Rs 10.2 lakh allegedly stolen by the accused.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed the involvement of two policemen and a man from Morjim in the Rs 10.2 lakh robbery case. Acting on this information, police is now on the lookout for the man from Morjim.
