Residents of Desaiwada-Mauxi in Sattari have been hit by water shortage for the last three days.
While residents have had to procure water from a nearby spring, the PWD has begun supplying water by tankers to the affected areas.
Unhappy residents claimed that despite filing a complaint at the Valpoi water supply office, efforts have not been made to improve the water supply in their area.
Two months ago, the villagers had staged a protest at the Valpoi water supply office and officials had taken steps to improve water supply.
Locals claimed the issue was resolved for some time, but since the last three days, water supply has been affected yet again.
“If other areas in the village are getting good water supply, why should there be water shortage only in Desaiwada? It is shocking that even during heavy rains, there is water shortage and we have to rely on water from the nearby spring and by water tankers,” complained a local.
“The water from the spring is muddy and is unsafe, but we are forced to consume this water.”
“Even when the water is supplied by tanker, there is no specified timing and people are forced to leave aside other work and have to wait a long time for the tanker to arrive in the ward,” the local added.
