Medical centre, fire station in Cuncolim municipal area soon

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias, besides Cuncolim Municipal Councilors in tow inspected the existing premises of electricity department for a fire station. The Chief Minister and the Cuncolim MLA also inspected the premises built under the golden jubilee funds near the Margao Municipal building to house an Emergency Care centre.

After the inspection of the two premises, the Chief Minister told the media that the long-standing demand of the people of Cuncolim for a fire station and a medical care centre will be fulfilled in the next 2-3 months. “The Cuncolim MLA along with some Councilors had called on me some days back with a plea to get the fire station at Cuncolim at the earliest. I have inspected the power department premises today and the fire station should become a reality within the next 2-3 months”, he said.

The Chief Minister further said there was a demand from the people to set up medical dispensary and Emergency Care centre in Cuncolim. “We had a meeting which was attended by the Health Director and it has been decided to set up the 24x7 medical dispensary and an emergency care centre in the building already in place on priority”, he said, adding that the centre will help the people to avail medical benefits in the Municipal area.

Cuncolim MLA Clafacio told the media that the Chief Minister has set in motion the process to transfer the building from the Power department to the Fire Services to set up the fire station. “The Chief Minister has cleared the file and he had come for an inspection today”, he said, adding the fire station should materialize in Cuncolim within two months.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said the government will take a call on the Cuncolim bypass alignment at the earliest. “The issue over the Cuncolim bypass will be resolved at the earliest. We are working on a plan and the issue will be resolved at the earliest”, he added.
