The urban development department on Thursday postponed the special meeting to elect the new chairperson and vice-chairperson as well as to administer the oath to newly elected councillors at the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) after two councillors tested positive.
Director of Urban Development Department Gurudas Pilarnekar on Thursday stated in a notice that a special meeting of all MMC councillors was to be held on May 10 at 11 am in the Municipal building.
“The Administrator of MMC on Wednesday reported that two councillors have tested Covid positive. The administrator has now reported on Thursday that one has been hospitalised."
“In view of the situation reported by the administrator of MMC, the special meeting scheduled on May 10 at 11 am is hereby postponed. The date of the special meeting will be fixed soon after a favourable report from the administrator," stated Pilarnekar.
