Meghasham takes over as Old Goa sarpanch at fag end of current term

With hardly a few days left for the panchayats to be dissolved, the Se Old Goa panchayat saw a change in the sarpanch as Meghasham Parvatkar took over the reins after former sarpanch Janita Madkaikar had stepped down from the post.
Parvatkar was elected unopposed at an election held in the panchayat with all the nine panchas remaining present on Monday.
The election was held as the earlier sarpanch Janita Madkaikar had resigned from the post paving the way for a new sarpanch to take over.
Apart from the sarpanch, the other eight panchas who remained present included deputy sarpanch Archita Painguinkar, Janita Madkaikar, Vishwas Kuttikar, Tulshidas Kavlekar, Pradnya Phadte, Nilkant Bhomkar, Namrata Bhomkar and Vishal Volvoikar.
To a question by The Goan on what possibly could he do as a sarpanch as there is hardly any time left, Parvatkar informed that he will try to get all the pending development files approved.
“And if the government appoints me as an administrator in the future then I will complete the development works,” he added.
On the Old Goa structure issue, Parvatkar informed that the panchayat will continue to take up the issue strongly like before.
“Earlier too, the panchayat took strong action in the matter and will continue to do so,” he added.
