Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has clarified that only a portion of the Kala Bhavan at Sancoale has been temporarily given to the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), while the auditorium and theatre would be open to everyone. He also informed that the Kala Bhavan at Sancoale would be re-inaugurated in the near future.
Speaking to reporters in the presence of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas and Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar after inaugurating the IIULER at Kala Bhavan in Sancoale, Sawant said the IIULER campus will remain temporarily in the Kala Bhavan for around 3-4 years.
“The campus will then be shifted to Dharbandora where the Bar Council is already building a university building," said Sawant.
"I want to clarify once again that this is only a temporary arrangement and only a portion of the Kala Bhavan has been given to the IIULER. The auditorium and theatre will be open for everyone and this will be open for public in the evening and during vacations. Different programs of art and culture will be taken up in the Kala Bhavan.”
"We will also formally re-inaugurate this project with Arts and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and Cortalim MLA Anton Vas," the chief minister said.
Cortalim MLA Anton Vas said it was a matter of pride that an international university was inaugurated in the Cortalim constituency by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and supreme court judges in the presence of members of the Bar Council from across India.
"There was, however, a small issue. I had told the CM that this infrastructure was built for art lovers and to carry out various art and culture programmes. I asked him whether the auditorium would also be given to the IIULER. The CM assured that while the university was only a temporary arrangement, the auditorium would be open for art and cultural activities," said Vas.
