MGP leader endorses tie-up with AAP, but says will go with party decision

MGP leader endorses tie-up with AAP, but says will go with party decision

MAPUSA
Mandrem MGP leader Jeet Arolkar on Friday said a tie-up between MGP and AAP can lead to a “bright future” for Goa but hastened to add that any decision on alliance will be taken by senior leaders of the MGP.

“At the moment there are rumours of an alliance between AAP and MGP. AAP is doing good work in Delhi and MGP is an old party that has governed the State for 17 years. So if there is a tie-up between MGP and AAP the future will be bright for Goa,” Arolkar said.

The MGP leader who is the front-runner for the ticket in Mandrem was speaking to journos on the sidelines of an event to hand over a memorandum to the deputy collector of Bardez.

Senior MGP leader from Mapusa Bhai Moye, Pernem MGP leader Pravin Arlekar, MGP central committee members Shripad Yende and Mahesh Satelkar, Bharat Toraskar, Gitesh Dangui and others were also present.

Speaking further, Arolkar said no information about alliance has been conveyed to the party workers and senior party leaders will take a final call in the matter.

“MGP’s central committee will soon meet and decide on the alliance and accordingly inform us. Whatever decision Sudin (Dhavalikar) takes will be final. We will go by any decision taken by the party,” he said.

A recent meeting between Dhavalikar brothers and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who was on a two-day visit to Goa last week, sent tongues wagging about a possible alliance between the two parties.
