MGP slams govt for delay in Sanguem parallel bridge

Says contractor leaving site over non-payment of dues

MGP slams govt for delay in Sanguem parallel bridge Sanguem MGP Block President Dattaprasad Sanguemkar while addressing a news conference in Sanguem.

SANGUEM

The Sanguem unit of MGP has slammed the government for denying the people of Sanguem a parallel bridge at Bendwada-Sanguem on account of financial reasons.

“The very fact that the contractor has started moving his machinery and other material from the construction site of the Bendwada bridge shows the State government’s apathy towards development of Sanguem constituency,” said Sanguem MGP Block President Dattaprasad Sanguemkar, while addressing a news conference in Sanguem.

“The government has insulted the people from Sanguem by leaving the project work midway and we shall not remain quiet,” warned Sanguemkar.

“If paucity of funds is really a problem, then how is it that the government-sponsored works in other constituencies are going on in full swing? The government is undertaking and announcing new projects on almost a daily basis. Why should step-motherly treatment be given to the people from Sanguem and Sanguem constituency as a whole?”

“It is a shame for the government when contractors leave construction sites over non-payment of dues. The government must take immediate steps to resume construction, which is presently halted,” said Sanguemkar.

Sanguemkar claimed that Sanguem constituency have failed to achieve progress since the past many decades.

“Except for progress achieved by the MGP government in Sanguem during Bahusaheb Bandodkar’s time, no major development works have been carried by successive governments,” Sanguemkar added.

Another MGP committee member, Manguesh Devidas, also accused the government of dirty political games by stalling development projects in Sanguem.

“The people from Sanguem will not keep quiet over the issue of the Sanguem bridge and will lead an agitation in the near future,” said Devidas.

Rupesh Gaonkar, Pravin Naik and Babuso Desaai were also present at the press conference.
