PONDA: Senior MGP leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has said the Congress and MGP have come together to bring about a change in politics.
Dhavalikar and South Goa Congress candidate Francis Sardinha visited Kapileshwari temple on the occasion of Ram Navami on Saturday and sought divine blessings.
"I request people to help to bring about this political change, which is necessary because BJP is targetting MLAs,” said Dhavalikar.
Praising Sardinha, who had begun his political career in 1977 and was thrice elected as member of parliament, Dhavalikar said Sardinha played a significant role in state politics.
"Goans and especially people of south Goa are aware of his work. We need to support him and get elected. I appeal to voters of Marcaim constituency to support Sardinha and give him victory with a good margin. We need to give him an opportunity to serve once again," said Dhavalikar.
Reacting to criticism by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Dhavalikar said, "Let them go about their criticism, but people can understand their condition in the manner in which he is campaigning in Shiroda. They have two candidates in Goa, but he is seen more in Shiroda. I am sure Shripad Naik will get less votes in Sawant's constituency of Sanquelim as mining dependents have already decided Shripad's fate."
Asked if the Congress is supporting the MGP in Shiroda, Dhavalikar replied: “I am not aware about it and that call has to be taken by the Congress."
“We had to support Congress in the Lok Sabha election as we have not fielded candidates. But I am confident that the MGP candidate from Shiroda will win and changes will come in the political scenario.”
