When Mickky Pacheco embraced the Congress a fortnight ago, reports were doing the rounds that he may be rewarded with the post of Congress working president.
With the Congress high command appointing former Minister Alexio Sequeira as the working president, Mickky said he has no qualms over the High Command’s decision, saying he had made it clear to the party leadership at the time of joining that he will not be able to devote time for the party in all the 40 constituencies.
Saying he has no issue over him not being the party working president, Mickky said since he has set his eyes on Benaulim and Nuvem, time would not have permitted him to do justice. “How could I have devoted time for all the 40 constituencies as party working president when I have decided to contest either from Benaulim or Nuvem”, he said,
He added: “The post of working president is offered to a person who will build the party in all the 40 Assembly constituencies. The post of working president is a full-time job as it involves moving in all the constituencies. Since I intend to contest the coming election, I was not in favour of taking over the position”, he added.
