Reiterating his stand that the Transfer of Development Right (TDR) policy for posterity is not in the interest of Goans, former Minister Mickky Pacheco on Tuesday urged Governor Mridula Sinha not to give her accent to the Bill which has been passed by the just concluded Assembly session.
The former Minister also threatened to move the Supreme Court if the Goa government fails to recover the mining loot from the concerned parties.
“Since the coalition has bulldozed with the TDR Bill in the Legislative Assembly with sheer numbers, I appeal to the governor not to give her accent to the Bill when it is sent to her for signature”, he said.
The former Minister demanded that the government should send the Bill to the village Panchayats for discussion before making it a law. “Villagers need to be taken into confidence before implementing the Bill since it will be disastrous consequences for Goa and the people of Goa,” he told the media.
Mickky recalled that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had stripped Babush Monserrate of the TCP portfolio after a hue and cry in the past, while wondering whether the Chief Minister and the TCP Minister Vijai Sarsdesai are trying to finish Goa by getting the TDR Bill through the back door.
He also called for transparency in the functioning of the FDA, demanding to know whether the FDA is equipped with adequate manpower and machinery to check each and every truck importing fishing into the state, besides keeping a track on vegetables, fruits arriving in the state.
“The people of Goa have lost their trust in the FDA after the agency bungled in testing the fish laced with formalin last month. Moreover, the FDA should tell the people of Goa whether the staff is now working in shifts at the Polem and Patradevi borders and how they will check vegetables and fruits across the state with available manpower”, Mickkky demanded.
