CANACONA
A new micro-containment zone has been declared in Agonda after seven residents tested positive while some surrounding houses have been declared as buffer zones.
Meanwhile, new cases have shown a decline over the last two days, with 22 testing positive on Monday and 21 cases on Tuesday. Two persons -- a 54-year-old person from Poinguinim and a 65-year-old person from Canacona -- succumbed to Covid-related complications, taking the death toll to 27 Covid-related deaths in the taluka.
The new cases over the last two days have been much lower than what was recorded during the past fortnight.
With 2048 patients having recovered, the active cases have also sharply come down to 440 as of Tuesday.
“The graph of Covid cases appears to be decreasing in Canacona. This is a good sign but we appeal to people to please follow all SOPs and instructions as advised by the heath department and to get themselves vaccinated,” said a source at Canacona Community Health Centre.
Meanwhile, sources have informed those people who had taken their first dose of the vaccination during the Tika Utsav drive in Canacona taluka that their second dose will now be given after 84 days and not, according to the schedule announced earlier.
The people will be informed about the new schedule for the vaccination drive in villages.
