Mining cos told to clean Sanvordem route by April 20

CURCHOREM

The Sanguem Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar has set a deadline of April 20 for mining companies to clean the route used for ore transportation in Sanvordem area.

The decision was taken at a special review meeting convened by Korgaonkar at his office on Wednesday, in the presence of the Sanvordem sarpanch and officials from mining companies.

It may be recalled that a month ago, a special joint meeting was convened at Sanvordem Panchayat to resolve dust pollution and traffic congestion issues in the area.

At the meeting, many locals had demanded that mining companies be asked to clean the roads in Sanvordem and follow instructions while transporting ore, so as to avoid dust pollution and traffic congestion.

The mining companies were also asked to clean the route used in the transportation of ore.

During a recent review meeting at Sanguem, Korgaonkar instructed the companies to implement the guidelines agreed during the previous meeting.

“A mining company will use a special machine from April 15 to suck out all dust from the route, so that people won't suffer from dust pollution. The capacity of this sucking machine is 8 kms per hour,” said Korgaonkar.

“I have suggested that other mining companies may also tie up with this company in using the sucking machine and get their allotted routes cleaned as well. By April 20, I want the instructions to be implemented seriously,” Korgaonkar added.
