In a bid to stem the rising tide of discontent both within and outside the government against the current impasse cause by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s prolonged illness, a group of ministers met at the State Secretariat on Thursday and promised to meet every Wednesday at the Ministerial block of the Secretariat.
Addressing media after the meeting, Goa Forward Supremo Vijai Sardesai said other ministers would act as ‘shock absorbers ’ in view of Parrikar’s absence.
“We are (going to be) meeting regularly to shape up our short term and to have a view on the long term scenario. We will provide a stable government and good governance. Parrikar is an exceptional leader who reached the Defence Minister’s position. He is the CM of the State, but unfortunately he is now now ailing and is in hospital. Naturally this will have an impact on the administration and everything,” Sardesai said.
“But we as a team are shock absorbers. We will lessen the impact of his (Parrikar’s) absence as much as possible so that Goans get good governance. Parrikar’s advice is still available to us,” Sardesai added.
The meeting, which was not a formal Cabinet meeting, was attended by Sudin Dhavalikar, Vijai Sardesai, Mauvin Godinho, Vishwajit Rane, Jayesh Salgaocar, Rohan Khaunte and the newly inducted ministers Nilesh Cabral
