The accused was nabbed after he effected entry into the house of Antonio Rebello at Comba last night. Antonio, who woke up at around 3 am to answer nature’s call, saw a bedsheet hanging from the ceiling with the roof tiles missing. He alerted his friends and neighbours, suspecting it to be the handiwork of burglars. After a search of the house, it was found that the minor was hiding under a bed.
Margao PI C L Patil informed that the accused removed a knife and pepper spray, but was taken into custody after being overpowered by PSI Amin Naik.
PI Patil said the accused was responsible for the spate of burglaries in the Comba and Malbhat areas in the last one month.
When his attention was drawn to the request made by the victims for recovery of the stolen items, PI Patil said since the accused was a minor, he has been sent to Apna ghar. “The accused misled the police since the time he was nabbed. He admitted having committed the burglaries, but tried to mislead the police when it came to recovery of the stolen items.
A group of residents, in the meantime, approached the Margao police with a plea
to the men in uniform to recover the stolen valuables at the earliest.
