The Madgaum Urban Cooperative Bank has claimed that the mystery surrounding the missing gold ornaments from the bank locker is finally resolved with the ornaments found intact in an adjoining locker.
The D’Silva family heaved a sigh of relief over the recovery of the missing gold worth around Rs 10 lakh, but not before raising a question how the gold ornaments found its way into an adjoining locker. In fact, Gilson Baptista, the son-in-law of Filomena D’Silva, told the media that the family will approach the Margao police with a plea to find out how the gold ornaments, which were kept in one locker found its way in an adjoining locker, which was not operated by anyone since August 20.
Bank Managing Director, Kishore Amonkar said the gold ornaments were found when the bank in-charge had gone into the locker room on Wednesday.
“When the bank in-charge casually opened a locker which was not operated by anyone and was open, he found the gold ornaments inside the locker,” Kishore told The Goan.
He said the parties were called to the branch on Thursday to identify the gold ornaments and after it was established that the ornaments were all intact and were identified as those belonged to Filomena and Eder D’Silva, the same was handed over to the party.
Gilson Baptista, however, wondered how the gold ornaments were found in a locker, which was open and was not operated by any customer since August 20. “Let the Margao police conduct an inquiry into the matter and find out how the missing ornaments from one locker were found in another locker,” Gilson added.
