Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) on Thursday demolished an illegal restaurant/shack on Vagator beach.
In a similar attempt in October 2018 during the demolition of the same restaurant, only a part of the structure was demolished giving an opportunity to the owner to demolish the balance part.
The owner who had then given a written undertaking that he would demolish the structure and restore the land to its original condition, however, failed to adhere to his word.
On Thursday, GTDC officials along with Anjuna Police and Joint Mamlatdar supervised the demolition drive which went off peacefully.
The drive which started at 11 am wound up by 5 in the evening.
The structure was built in the property belonging to GTDC.
Besides encroaching in the GTDC property, the structure was built in violation of the CRZ regulation within 100 metres of the High Tide Line.
GTDC official, Laxmikant Vaigankar was present at the site.
Joint Mamlatdar Jennifer Fernandes was overseeing the law and order while Anjuna Police led by PI Suraj Gawas provided the security.
