MARGAO
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Sunday dared Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambar Kamat to explain his stand on the government’s decision to bring a private medical college at the South Goa district hospital.
Sardesai reminded that Kamat did not leave a single stone unturned to attack the BJP over the last decade for the utter neglect of the South Goa district hospital, the foundation stone for which was laid during his stint as the State’s chief minister.
"Kamat was critical of the BJP governments for reducing the bed strength of the South Goa district hospital from 800 to 500. He had used every election platform to hit out at the BJP for not completing the district hospital building on schedule,” he said.
Sardesai said the time has now come for the Margao MLA to outline his stand on the government’s proposal to set up a private medical college in the South district hospital.
“The South Goa district hospital will not remain a hospital if the private college sees the light of day. Hence, it is important for Kamat to speak out his views on the private medical college proposal since he had pride himself as the architect of the South district hospital,” he added.
