Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro has complained to the Chief Secretary to order a Vigilance probe into the inordinate delay by the contractors to execute the sewage works in Navelim constituency.
He also urged the Panchayat bodies to file similar complaints with the Chief Secretary, who is heading the Vigilance department and demand probe into the delay by the contractor to complete the sewage works in the constituency.
Addressing the media after launching hot mixing works in Navelim constituency, the Navelim MLA said that sewage works which were started around 2012 are still not been completed till date, saying the delay has cost the exchequer dearly with the contractors damaging the hot mixed roads to lay the sewage lines. “The continuous digging of the roads to lay cables and sewage lines has to stop immediately. Finally, the money spent on the hot mixing of roads belongs to the tax payers”, he said.
A visibly agitated Faleiro pointed out that residents of the Nagmodem area of Navelim village had to go without water supply on Easter Sunday after a contractor damaged an underground water supply during the excavation work.
He slammed the authorities, including PWD water supply, Sewage, electricity department for not working in a coordinated manner while laying the cables, adding that the district authorities also issues the digging permission without taking cognizance of the ground reality.
