It was an unusual sight to find Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar busy regulating traffic and directing vehicles at Mandrem on Wednesday.
The traffic jam was cause as the electricity department is in the process of laying underground cables at Junas wada in Mandrem and roads have been dug up.
The narrow roads, with heaps of soil by the roadsides, made it difficult for motorists to pass through and there was a traffic jam for about 45 minutes.
When Arolkar was intimated about the traffic jam, he rushed to the spot and was involved in controlling and directing traffic, much to the surprise of the stranded motorists.
