In her complaint filed at Vasco Police station, CO Deepali Naik stated that Salkar and his relative along with a mob entered her office on Friday at about noon and started abusing her.
The chief officer added that the mob along with Salkar and the relative started shouting slogans in her cabin and restrained her from discharging her lawful duty, despite directing them to leave
the office.
“The mob started banging a table and raised their hands to hit me and created problem and hampered work,”
she said.
In his complaint, Chairperson Deepak Naik also stated that Salkar and the mob entered the chief officer’s cabin at noon and started demanding explanation for removing a handcart stationed near Military Engineering Service at Mangor on Thursday.
“Action against illegal handcarts was initiated as per the provision laid down in
the Municipal Act,” Deepak added.
Deepak urged the police to initiate strict action against Salkar for illegally entering the chief officer’s cabin, forming unlawful assembly, abusing the lady chief officer, restraining the chief officer from discharging her official duty and abusing and assaulting a fellow councillor, who had gone to diffuse the tension.
Speaking to The Goan, Chief Officer Deepali Naik said the exercise of initiating action against illegal handcarts was going on before the election and no one was spared despite having different political affiliation.
“Due to the assembly election, we had stopped the drive and now since the election are over, we started the drive and without being biased removed all the illegal handcarts which were causing inconvenience to general public and traffic,” said Deepali.
“It’s shocking that an elected representative is barging in my cabin with a mob to protect the illegal handcarts.”
“I have filed a complaint with Vasco Police and the FIR copy along with another complaint will be sent to the DMA to initate necessary action against Councilor Krishna Salkar,” added Deepali.
Chairperson Deepak Naik said he will also write to the DMA to initiate disqualification proceeding against Salkar.
When contacted, Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo said cognizable offences have been registered against Salkar, his relative and the others under Section 143, 147, 353, 504, 506 R/W 149 IPC.
