In fact, Chairperson Babita with her deputy Doris Texeira in tow made their appearance in the births and deaths section on Monday after a citizen complained that City Fathers do not follow any queue system, leaving the citizens in the lurch.
“I personally went down to the births and deaths section to verify the complaint that City Fathers receive preference over the common man. I told the municipal staff manning the section that they are not supposed to show any favour to the City Fathers. I told them that they have to go by the rule and give preference to the citizens in the queue even if the Chairperson tells them to do so,” Babita told the media.
There’s been complaint galore from citizens that Municipal councillors often break the queue system in the births and deaths section of the civic body, while the common man is made to stand in a huge queue to lay their hands on these documents.
