MARGAO
Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) has said that the MMD, Vasco has resumed its service in respect of BSID Cards, as per DGS Circular No 25 of 2021 dated September 9, 2021.

GSAI President Frank Viegas said it has been brought to their attention that seafarers who are joining ship from UK & Brazil can visit MMD office directly with company covering letter.

“For the rest of the seafarers who already had an appointment, they will be intimated with new appointment and they need not to take a fresh appointment or visit MMD office Vasco. Around 40 thousand plus seafarers are awaiting to apply for SID card at different centers of India. Since SID card has become mandatory for joining or signing off in some countries, it’s been uncertain for those seafarers who don't possess Indian CDC”, he said.

Frank said GSAI has brought to the attention of Shipping Ministry Govt of India for availability of Indian CDC on case to case basis as applicable specially those seafarers who are been debarred from applying Indian CDC.

They can check status on DGS BSID website given below dgshippingbsid.in or contact GSAI office Phone 08322710071 / 9404251110 for more details, he added.
