Dhangar community alleges unbearable stench and inaction by authorities; seeks CM’s intervention

Villagers in Mollem have stepped up their protest against a food processing unit, alleging severe pollution and an unbearable stench that has disturbed their daily lives.
Residents from the Dhangar community said the foul odour from the factory has made normal living conditions difficult. They added that the smell is so strong that families are forced to live in constant discomfort inside their own homes.
A local resident said the village has around 50 households, many of whom now feel neglected and helpless. Protesters alleged that the factory’s waste disposal has polluted the area and taken away their right to a clean and healthy environment.
Despite repeated complaints to the panchayat and government departments, villagers claimed that no concrete action has been taken. They expressed frustration over what they called continued inaction and indifference from the authorities.
Villagers also voiced disappointment with local MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, saying that although he had earlier assured them of a solution, no visible progress has been made.
The residents have now appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene and take immediate steps to either shut down or relocate the factory. They have made it clear that their protest will continue until the village is free from the pollution and health risks caused by the unit.
