The State has at least 14 places where frequent cases of flooding, landslides, tree falls, and other incidents occur during the monsoon. With over 1,000 tree falls, dozens of major and minor landslides and waterlogging already reported in the first month and a half of the monsoon season, the State Disaster Management Authority recorded around 330 such cases. These numbers likely exclude incidents reported independently to authorities such as Fire & Emergency Services, local panchayats, etc.

The Mahakhajan at Dhargal, which reported a major landslide on July 8, is one of those hotspots where incidents are frequent, as per government records.

In his reply to an unstarred question by MLA Viresh Borkar, Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate stated that Mahakhajan at Dhargal road survey numbers 10/1, 10/2, 10/3 (an area about 60 to 70 running meters) is prone to frequent incidents over the last few years. The landslide led to the collapse of the protection walls, with the highway closed for a couple of days.

The Maruti Gad at Mala, which reported a landslide just this week, along with the Altinho areas are also prone to frequent landslides.

In Bicholim, the Latambarcem Nanoda area sees an increase in water levels that leads to roadblocks. At Shapora, the rise in water levels in the Shapora River causes flooding in Salem Village. Sattari has Nagargao-Satre and Keri-Ghat Road; Bardez has Junaswada, Nadora, Camurlim, Revora, and Colvale, where repeated monsoon-related incidents occur.

In the south, only two places in Salcete and Dharbandora reported such incidents. At Paroda, heavy rains cause flooding on the road from Margao to Paroda; and at Davkond in Dharbandora, the approach road (approximately 1 km) gets flooded.
