Mopa journo, family evacuated to safety

Pernem firefighters on Wednesday evacuated a local reporter Umesh Gad and five of his family members, after they were stranded in their house due to rising water level at a nearby Nullah in at Kadshi-Mopa.   

Umesh Gad resides near a Nullah at Kadshi-Mopa and with the Nullah overflowing, the Gad family was stranded in their house.  They alerted the Pernem Fire Station and firefighters evacuated Umesh, his mother Uma (72), his wife Utkarsha (42) and daughters Meghana, Gitanjali and Gandhari.   

The Pernem Fire Services said a team led by fire station incharge Namdev Parwar along with firefighters Pradeep Kumar Asolkar, Vishnudatta Parab and Shyam Arondekar rushed to the spot and began the rescue operation. They family was evacuated and shifted to a safe place.   

Pernem Mamlatdar Rajesh Ajgaokar and Mopa Deputy Sarpanch Subhodh Mahale supervised the rescue operations.
