Morjim GS resolves to take firm action on parking violations

PERNEM

In a recent gathering of the Morjim Gram Sabha, significant decisions were made regarding parking violations and developmental projects. It was unanimously agreed that action would be taken against vehicles found parked in designated ‘No Parking’ zones, including those parked along the coastal area.

Furthermore, a strict deadline of two weeks was imposed for the removal of hotel advertising boards encroaching on roadside spaces.

The meeting, presided over by Sarpanch Mukesh Gadekar, saw active participation from various community members. Expressing concern over the sluggish pace of ongoing projects, Zilla Panchayat member Satish Shetgaonkar called for the submission of a comprehensive list of proposed works to be funded through the district panchayat allocation, which amounts to Rs 35 lakh annually.

Addressing concerns raised by villagers, Tukaram Shetgaonkar drew attention to the replacement of old houses with new constructions and questioned the collection of taxes by the panchayat. He also raised pertinent queries regarding illegal tenancy and unauthorized advertising hoardings, stressing the need for swift action on such matters.

The discrepancy between proposed resolutions and their subsequent implementation was highlighted, with Tukaram Shetgaonkar advocating for the digitisation of panchayat paperwork to streamline administrative processes.

Various other issues, including the removal of hoardings, the maintenance of speed breakers, the management of stray cattle, and the regulation of illegal tenancy, were deliberated upon. Sarpanch Mukesh Gadekar assured prompt attention to these matters within the stipulated two-week time frame.
