Morjim locals block road near club over sound pollution
Also demand withdrawal of cases filed against them

Locals of Morjim along with the members of sound pollution monitoring board staged a road blockade agitation outside a prominent club at Morjim on Monday night, to demand control on sound pollution during night parties.
The agitators demanded a curb on sound pollution, action against night parties and to withdraw a criminal cases filed against them.
Speaking to reporters, Goa Congress vice-president Babi Bagkar said instead of taking action against night parties for creating sound pollution, the government has registered an offence against those raising their voices to stop sound pollution.
“If the government fails to withdraw the offences charged against us, we will intensify our agitation,” warned Bagkar.
“When the FORCE agitators blocked national highways to demand grants, no offence was registered against them. Why was an offence registered against the Morjim residents who were just demanding their rights,” he questioned.
It may be recalled that offence was filed against the locals and the Sound Pollution Monitoring Board members on February 13, 2014, for allegedly protesting against a night party at a resort and for blocking the vehicles. On January 3, 2015, an offence was filed against the agitators for allegedly protesting in front of another club at Morjin to stop sound pollution.
