The Morjim Village Development Committee has decided to propose installation of CCTV cameras in the main temples and churches, as well as schools in Morjim village.
At its meeting on Monday, the Morjim VDC also decided to include other issues in its proposal for the panchayat, which includes completing of pre-monsoon works, de-silting of nullahs, repairing of wells, painting of speed breakers and providing facilities on beach.
This proposal will then be presented at the next gram sabha for approval and implementation.
Morjim Panchayat Secretary Vijay Tilve presented the last year’s report and explained the purpose of the meeting.
One VDC member demanded the installation of CCTV cameras in main temples and churches in Morjim village, while another member also demanded CCTV cameras in government schools at Kattewada, Kannaikwada, Deulwada and Pokewada.
A VDC member Satish Shetgaonkar suggested repairing potholed roads before monsoons and to expedite development works. However, Morjim Deputy Sarpanch Amit Shetagaonkar replied that some people are not allowing the repair of roads for different reasons.
Former sarpanch Satish Shetgaonkar then suggested that panchayat members should interact with those opposing road repair works and work out a solution.
Jagganath Vadji demanded the installation of new speed breakers in Narojiwada and Bagwadajunction as well as the de-silting nullahs before monsoons.
The issues which were discussed were listed in the proposal and it will be presented before the Gram Sabha for approval of members.
