Motive behind Fatorda attack still under investigation: Police

MARGAO
The Goa police is still on a hunt to nab the remaining accused in the armed attack on history-sheeter, with the men-in-uniform saying the motive behind the attack is being investigated.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Margao, DySP Harish Madkaikar and investigating officer, PI Kapil Nayak said the motive behind the murder attempt is still under investigations, saying the police are on the job to nab the remaining accused persons.

Police officials feigned ignorance to a theory being floated in certain circles that the rival gang attacked victim Sheikh Anwar alias Tiger Anwar in retaliation for the history-sheeter action of shaving the head of the relative of accused Ricky Hornekar. “This is not the motive behind the incident. The police are on the job to investigate the attack from all angles. We are unware of the incident involving the history-sheeter shaving the head of the relative of an accused person,” the police said.

Police teams constituted by the police have launched a manhunt to nab the remaining accused persons, including the accused, who had fired at Tiger Anwar from a pistol. The history-sheeter had named a number of known, besides unknown persons behind the attack.

The police has so far arrested Ricky Hornekar and Vipul Pathare in the case.
