A 75-year-old motorcycle pilot who was involved in a road mishap on NH-66 at Tar-Bastora succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Mapusa Police have booked the accused, a car driver from Bastora, on charges of rash driving and culpable homicide.
The mishap happened at around 11.30 am on NH-66 at Tar-Bastora on Friday.
According to police, the accused car driver, Vijay Gawas (48) entered the NH-66 road from the service road from Bastora to proceed to Colvale and after proceeding a little further dashed on the oncoming taxi motorcycle which was moving towards Panaji.
The motor-cycle pilot Dnyaneshwar Divkar (75) of Khobro-vaddo, Calangute was flung on the road with the impact of the collision and suffered serious injuries.
He was first shifted to the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa and later rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The accused car driver has been booked under Section 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (culpable homicide) of the IPC. Mapusa Police is investigating further.
