MARGAO
Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy on Sunday made it clear that party’s decision to make new comers as Ministers in the BJP-led government in Goa while the traditional supporters have not got their due are all temporary situations.
Conceding that BJP allowed the entry of new comers into the party as part of its strategy, Dr Swamy said even Lord Ram had accepted Vibhishan’s support, adding “we have to win the larger goal and we cannot afford to lose Goa, which is an intellectual state”. He virtually made it clear that the RSS people still have a dominant control over the BJP even though new comers have come in.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of his talk on Resurgence of Hinduism at the Ravindra Bhavan,
Margao on Sunday, Dr Swamy said the departure of his good friend and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had created such a vacuum in such a short time that the party leadership came to the conclusion that Goa would not benefit if the Congress had to return to power in the State because of the scams and corruption.
“The dominant control of the BJP is still held by the RSS people. Only that new people have become Ministers, while some of our traditional supporters have not got their due. These are temporary situations. Even Lord Ram had
accepted Vibhishan’s support. We have a tradition that we must win the larger goal and we cannot afford to lose Goa. Goa is an intellectual state”, he added.
To another query, Dr Swamy said the BJP has grown very fast in some States when people from other parties have joined the party like in Assam. He, however, said the party has not done the same thing in UP which is the base of the party.
He said there’s no harm if somebody is ready to accept the party programme and willing to speak for it when the party is keen to see the whole country under BJP rule. He, however, cautioned that once anyone joins the party, he would be bound by the party discipline, saying the party will not tolerate indiscipline.
‘November will ring in good news for temple’
MARGAO: Saying that November will ring in good news for the people of the country, Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy on Sunday said the court will clear all decks for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, while announcing that the government will table a Bill on Cow Slaughter in the ensuing Lok Sabha session in November.
On the demand for Hindu Rashtra, he pointed out that India is already a Hindu rashtra when 82 per cent of the country’s population compromises of Hindus and that there’s already a ban on cow slaughter in many States.
Delivering a talk on “Resurgence of Hinduism”, organised by Anapoorna Aiyar Charitable Turst and Shiv Samraj at the Ravindra bhavan here on Sunday, Dr Swamy, exuded confidence of wining the ongoing court battle in favour of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya. He pointed out that though thousands of temples were razed during the Mughal rule, the Hindu community has decided to re-build temples at Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi.
The Rajya Sabha MP also strongly rooted for the spread of Sanskrit language, saying Sanskrit will get due importance from the BJP government so that the language gets a revival across the country.
Saying that Hindu religion has withstood the onslaught of Muslim invaders, Dr Swamy pointed out
that while religions and civilizations have succumbed to Islam in Persia, Babylonia and Egypt, Hinduism has withstood attempts from Muslim rulers over the years.
Taking a dig at the historians for not portraying the country’s history in the right perspective, Dr Swamy demanded to know why there are no separate chapters on the Vijainagar empire, while lots of pages are written on the Mughals, while demanding to put the country history and culture in right perspective.
Meanwhile, attributing the state of the country’s economy to lack of demand, Harvard educated Prof Subramanian Swamy said the solution to the economic problem lies in increasing the interest rate of deposits and lowering the lending rates.
He made a strong demand for the scrapping of the Income Tax, saying it will go a long way in mitigating hardships of the country’s middle class, who have to bear the brunt of the tax.
Fielding a question on the economic problems, Dr Swamy said the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman apparently believes that release of over one lakh crore of rupees in the economy would help give a boost to the economy when the solution lies in fixing the interest rates.
“I am of the strong opinion that the rate of interest on fixed deposits should not be less than nine percent. Similarly, the rate on interest on loans should also be set at nine per cent”, he said, while
predicting that the stocks will rise and he economy will boom in no time.
