Pernem police arrested a man from Madhya Pradesh on charges of possessing drugs valued at Rs 60,000 in Arambol-Pernem.
According to Pernem Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, police had received information that a person was involved in drug activities at near the lake at Arambol.
Police Inspector Dalvi and his team were on the trail of the accused and had been checking the area during late hours.
On Thursday, police was tipped that the accused would bring drugs to a prospective customer at Arambol. Based on reliable intelligence, the accused person was traced opposite a guest house near the Arambol lake.
Police raided the premises and found charas valued at Rs 60,000. The accused, Rajesh Bansal, (31) of Sidhi-MP has been arrested in this connection.
The raid was conducted by PI Jivba Dalvi along with PSI Vivek Halarnkar, Constables Janardhan Gaonkar, Devidas Malkar, Anishkumar Poke and Rohidas Mahaloji.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Gajanan Prabhudessai and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon.
