A newly constructed compound wall collapsed at the proposed IDC project in Latambarcem-Bicholim, prompting locals to suspect substandard work.
However, sources at IDC claimed the wall had collapsed due and heavy rains and strong winds on account of Cyclone Tauktae.
Suspecting the work to have been of substandard quality, locals said construction of the proposed IDC had itself begun after a lengthy delay and believe that work may have taken place in a hasty manner.
When contacted, Bicholim MLA and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said he would conduct an enquiry in the matter.
