The pandemic has rekindled a new spirit of caring and sharing among the community and individuals, private and public institutions as well as the administrative bodies in the State of Goa are stepping forward to help the Covid affected and their families.
One such initiative by the Camorlim village panchayat has caught the attention of many. The sarpanch Basilio Fernandes has been providing meals to the Covid isolated patients, using a wet waste biogas plant installed by Inovativa Waste Aid Management. This biogas is generated using biodegradable waste and hence is an eco-friendly option as well.
Under the waste management project of the panchayat, the biogas plant built by this company within the Camorlim panchayat area has been set up along with the kitchen required to cook these meals and are being catered to an average of 50 meals per day which depicts an appropriate use of the technology.
Since biogas is a new age renewable energy source, it can be used both on small and large-scale for biogas production to solve the issues of not only energy, but also of wet waste.
“The necessity of biogas is a need of the hour as biogas helps you generate free energy by using just your waste while its second by-product is rich, organic natural fertiliser,” points out the sarpanch who is receiving applause for this novel concept.
“This is an impressive initiative undertaken by the Camorlim panchayat under the leadership of the sarpanch. In these tough times we have to stand with each other in every possible way while taking care of our environment as well,” says Gaurav Pokle, founder and CEO of Inovativa Waste Aid Management Company.
“It would be a great initiative if the upcoming building projects would be implemented with a biogas plant which would help in reducing garbage issues and we would always be privileged to provide aid to our community,” adds Pokle.
