VASCO: The Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) has given a one-month extension to people to get their land mapping and houses marked before the final Outline Development Plan (ODP) is finalised.
MPDA Chairman and Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Wednesday informed reporters that a one-month period was given by the MPDA after it received a request from various panchayats to get their houses marked.
Almeida also said people must use the time frame to get their houses marked before the final ODP is drafted.
"MPDA has begun land mapping and we have received a request from several bodies like panchayats, NGOs and other people that they need more time. In view of this, we have taken a board decision to give a one-month extension. There are a lot of places where low-lying areas, water bodies are not shown and hence we have decided to give them time," said Almeida.
"I request people to come to the Mormugao PDA and cross check if their houses are there in the plan, check for water bodies, etc. If houses or such areas are not there, then they can put it in the plan now.”
“Later if there are issues, people start shouting in protest. I appreciate the move of Chicalim Panchayat and in the same way, we have decided that we will draw and mark everything and then we will have the ODP," said Almeida.
