MPT announces incentives to promote container services

The Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) on Friday announced incentives and discounts to encourage new operators willing to start container feeder service at the port.

MPT Traffic Manager Capt Himanshu Shekhar issued a trade facility notice announcing discounts in VRS charges for a new container feeder 

operator. “In order to encourage any new container feeder service proposed to be started from MPT Goa, concessions have been offered in anticipation of post facto approval from the Board of Trustees.”

He stated that a 100 per cent concession would be offered on VRC (Pilotage, Port Dues and Berth Hire) for first call. “From the second call, the port will grant the existing berthing window facility to the new container feeder operator. A new container operator’s feeder vessel shall be granted 50 per cent concession on VRC till reviewed further.”

As promotional discount for the first three months to cover fishing export season, Capt Shekhar said ousting priority will be offered to container vessel on 24 hours notice (instead of 48 hours) and 50 percent concession will be allowed for container vessel vessel not availing the window facility.

“Any feeder operator desirous of commencing the feeder service from MPT may write to the port with the details of vessels and a firm date of first call. We request the support of stakeholders in patronising the port for containerised trade and assure of our continued facilitation and cooperation,” stated the circular.
