PANAJI: The Mormugao Port Trust Pensioners’ Association has approached Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal seeking his intervention in resolving the long-pending grievances of pensioners of the erstwhile Mormugao Port Trust.
Association President S. R. Fadte and General Secretary Digambar Tendulkar met Sonowal in New Delhi in the presence of Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Naik. Sonowal assured the association that their grievances would be addressed at the earliest.
During the meeting, the representatives submitted their grievances and sought the Sonowal’s intervention for an early resolution. The association has been pursuing the issues with the Mormugao Port Authority and other concerned authorities.
Sonowal reportedly gave the delegation a patient hearing and spoke to the Chairperson of the Mormugao Port Authority over the phone, requesting that the pensioners’ grievances be examined and resolved.
