Speaking to reporters, Kole said the tourist taxi owners do not get any benefit from the government, but the government is "harassing" the taxi owners instead of helping them. "The ministers should first step out of their luxury cars and see potholes on the roads. Repair the roads and than implement such a decision," he urged.
"Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo, Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao and former chief minister Digambar Kamat have supported the tourist taxi owners, but we do not get required support from the local MLAs," said Kole.
Kole said there are about 600 tourist taxis operating along the coastline of Mandrem constituency and they have business only for six months.
"We have no business during the monsoon season and whatever earned during the tourist season is spent on paying instalments and on family, and we cannot afford speed governors," he added.
"If government wants to implement speed governors for taxis, it should be strictly implemented for all the private and government vehicles except police, ambulance and fire," demanded Kole.
