Mud and stones from the Mopa airport project site have filled some fields and plantations in Ugvem and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is expected to visit the affected areas to take stock of the situation on July 2.
According to locals, about 4 acres of fields and plantations in Ugvem have been damaged on account of the mud and stones.
The BJP Block President Gawas has appealed to Pernem Deputy Collector Ravishankar Nipanikar for compensation to the affected farmers.
"We have notified the chief minister regarding the plight of the farmers and he will inspect the affected area with officials on July 2," said Gawas.
The chief minister is expected to be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar, agriculture officials and GMR company officials at the site on Friday.
