Addressing a media briefing, general secretary of Goa Municipal Employees Union, Anil Shirodkar, claimed there is unity in the Union while condemning the efforts of those who are allegedly spreading the message of a split in the union. He said some of the members who had left the union have returned back into the fold.
According to Shirodkar, the general body meeting of Goa Municipal Employees Association, Margao, decided to appoint New Executive Committee members. He informed that Devidas Shetkar had retired and Sushila Chalwadi was co-opted in his place on the garden committee. Likewise, Shetkar was replaced by Conceicao Miranda as the Unit president as the former had retired.
Shirodkar said this new Committee is valid till the year 2019. He also informed that the Committee will sack some four people after taking a decision to this effect in the general body.
Speaking at the press briefing, president of Goa Municipal employees Union, Keshav Prabhu, said that the Union submits audited statement every year and is answerable only to the Labour Commissioner.
Meanwhile, Shirodkar informed that the authorities have called the Union for discussions pertaining to their demands which include non-implementation of settlements. Payment of grade pay & arrears, extension of MACP Benefits, regularisation of daily rated workers, regularisation of two LDC staff, payment of OT from November 2015 and regularisation of workers engaged under harness scheme are their demands.
